Distracted Driving Expected to Surpass Drunk Driving as Cause for Fatalities

I came across the following article this morning, which details how distracted driving is expected to surpass impaired driving as a factor in fatal crashes for the 7th straight year in Ontario Provincial.

My reason for posting is not to minimize the danger of drinking and driving.  Rather, I think it's important to understand the culture and stigma of DUI charges in Washington State and everywhere in the world. Hundreds of millions of dollars are spent every year to combat drunk driving. Furthermore, many prosecutors in Washington State, specifically, believe that severely punishing first offense DUI offenders is task #1 if traffic fatalities are to be reduced. I don't condone anyone drinking a ton and driving around, but if reducing traffic fatalities is, in fact, the ultimate goal, re-evaluating the plan of attack isn't such a bad idea.

The demonization of DUI charges is alive and well in King County. This is why it is absolutely imperative that you hire the attorney that will give you the best chance of avoiding the significant consequences that stem from a DUI conviction. If you or anyone you know has been arrested for a Seattle DUI, contact the attorneys at Veitch Ault & Associates (425-452-1600) immediately.
